This event is held in conjunction with the Bozeman Roundup
and is open to anyone who thinks they are cowboy or cowgirl enough to compete.
All you need is a good horse and some cowboy talent!
Each contestant will be expected to work a cow on the fence, ride a pattern and rope a steer.

IT'S THE REAL WEST AT ITS BEST!

Classes are divided as noted:
Bridle Horse: Open to any age horse, ridden one handed in a bridle (solid mouth pieces only), no training aides or tie downs.
Jr. Horse:  Open to 3, 4 and 5-year olds, ridden in a snaffle or hackamore, no training aides tie downs.
$2000 Limited:  is open to any person who has not won $2,000 in reining, cutting, reined cowhorse events or ranch horse competitions.  Any age horse may be ridden in any legal bit.  The class will require reining, boxing, fence work and roping.
$1000 Limited: is open to any person who has not won $1,000 in reining, cutting, reined cowhorse events or ranch horse competitions.  Rider also may not have won more than 2 points in any breed show in Ranch Horse Versatility, Reining, Cutting or Working Cowhorse.  Any age horse may be ridden in any legal bit.  Rider may show with two hands on a bit that does NOT contain a solid mouthpiece.  This class will ride a reining pattern, box, and then fence.  There will be no roping in this class.
Rein and Box: is open to anyone who doesn’t have the desire to run a cow down the fence or to rope the critter.  The only requirements are performing a reining pattern and boxing a cow on the end of the arena.

Contestants of the Bozeman Ranch Horse Competition are to complete three events:
I. Horsemanship (pattern will be posted prior to show)
II. Cow Work: Box and fence a single cow
III. Roping:  Two loops maximum
