JOB DUTIES:
Provide for the care and custody of inmates by maintaining a safe and secure environment at the detention center. Daily interactions with staff and inmates; provide services to the general public at the direction of the Sheriff. Write accurate reports, update and maintain facility records. Possess a working knowledge of computer programs;
ABILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicant must be a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years of age; extensive background investigation and fingerprinting will be performed to disclose any criminal record or convictions; must be of good moral character; must pass a department physical ability and written examination; must complete an oral exam to demonstrate communication skills, temperament, motivation and other characteristics necessary to the accomplishment of the duties and functions of a peace officer; must possess or be eligible for a valid Montana driver’s license; must possess the ability to remain calm in stressful situations; make quick decisions using good judgment, understand and follow verbal and written orders; deal with all types of individuals and personalities. Vision cannot be worse than 20/100 and corrected to 20/20 in each
eye.
EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school, or equivalent.
Applicants must submit: P.O.S.T. Application, Resume, minimum of 3 work/educational references, and a typing test (30 wpm minimum).
NOTE: This is a union position under the Deputy Sheriffs' Association contract with Gallatin County.
