Monitoring Well Network Data

Monitoring of ground-water levels provides early detection and understanding of ground-water availability issues, including drought, over-appropriation, and impacts from land use changes such as commercial or suburban development replacing irrigated agriculture.  The GLWQD Monitoring Well Network is designed to address these issues while providing long-term trend data of ground-water levels over time.

There are 51 active monitoring wells in the network which covers the entire Gallatin Valley, with some wells checked quarterly and others monthly.  All data collected from the monitoring well network is entered into the Ground Water Information Center (GWIC) database.
