Electronic Monitoring (EM) is a pretrial and a post-adjudication program. EM offers the courts the option of allowing the defendant to be free from jail to be able to work to maintain himself and/or his family, yet remain supervised.
Pretrial Defendants.
The client must provide verification of any pre-approved outings, including employment, but otherwise remain confined to his/her residence. Violations of any conditions of bail can result in the defendant’s going to jail until trial or until the court imposes other release conditions.
Post-Trial Offenders.
In the same respect Electronic Monitoring alleviates jail overcrowding in the post-sentencing phase of a case. Some sentencing orders may contain a combination of jail time and Electronic Monitoring. Violations can result in the revocation of a suspended sentence and imposed jail time.
