To organize professional expertise in a logical and fiscally responsible manner in order to identify and implement alternative programs that ensure public safety, victims' rights, accountability and efficiency in Gallatin County.
MISSION STATEMENT
To offer pretrial, post-conviction and specialty court services for State, District, Justice, Municipal and City courts in Gallatin County in accordance with the policies of Gallatin County.
Gallatin County Pretrial Services provides the courts a defendant’s current personal and criminal history, along with a Risk Assessment. The court considers the Pretrial Services’ information in conjunction with the prosecutor’s and the defense counsel’s input to make an informed decision about whether release under pretrial supervision is an
appropriate action.
If a court places a defendant under supervision, Pretrial Services works with the defendant to successfully comply with the court’s conditions of bail. Pretrial officers provide the structure under which the defendant determines day-to-day activities and choices. The court, at any time, may request a compliance report and thus it is to the defendant's benefit to positively participate with the Pretrial program in its entirety.
Referrals and Assistance
Because some clients are in a stressful place in their lives, which may or may not have contributed to the current charges, Pretrial Services is a unique position to recommend various agencies and organizations that might help during a crisis period. By meeting with clients on a regular basis, a case manager may develop sufficient rapport where a client might be open to outside help. Referrals might include employment assistance, bus or other transportation information, temporary housing options, drug/alcohol counseling, medical and mental health facilities, social services.
