Forests abound in Montana - from the giant cedars in the west to the pines of the southeast and everything in between. Through the 4-H forestry project, you will discover how important these forests are to our state. You'll also learn about forest ecology and people's reliance on forest products. You'll learn about forest resources near home and around the world. You'll also explore the relationship between trees, people and communities. Through this project, you'll have many interesting and exciting challenges. In each level, you will need to keep good records of your learning activities and you are expected to complete a minimum of six
activities and you are expected to complete an entire level within 3 years. You should also participate in at least 3 additional learning experiences each year - such as exhibiting at the fair, taking tour, giving a speech or demonstrations, helping others or planning and conducting a forestry-related event or activity.
FORESTRY, LEVEL 1 - 6010
In this introductory level, you will learn about the different types of trees and tree parts, characteristics of different forests, what forests need to grow and thrive, and the many different products and benefits people get from trees and forests. You'll even learn about the many jobs you might want to do when you grow up! Each year that you are enrolled in this level, you should complete a minimum of 6 activities and 3 learning experiences as listed in the manual. You should complete the entire level within 3 years and move on to the next level of learning. And don't forget - keep good records along the way. Records are a required part of the 4-H learning experience and help document what you've learned and accomplished.

FORESTRY, LEVEL 2 - 6020
In this level, you will take a closer look at the inner-workings of trees, explore forest change, learn about forest health concerns and discover the health benefits that trees have for people. You will also continue to learn about the different types of trees and tree parts, characteristics of different forest, what forests need to grow and thrive, and the many products and benefits that people get from forests and trees.

FORESTRY, LEVEL 3 - 6030
In this final level of the forestry project, you will learn to examine and distinguish different types of trees, learn about three fruits, learn how to develop a community forest map, learn about genetics, look at forests on a global scale, learn how to care for trees and think about how to conserve forests.
