Photography
Our first photography meeting will be Saturday, October 4 from 2:00-4:30 pm. We will be meeting at a private residence at 1383 Cobb Hill Rd.  Please contact Kathy Cheney for directions, or watch for the signs on Cobb Hill Rd. The leaves are changing to great yellows, oranges and reds, so be prepared to take lots of pictures!!!  Digital or film cameras are welcome! Also bring a small oatmeal, grits or cornmeal box and 2 clean aluminum cans. We will be making and using pinhole cameras!!! Objectives

- To give educational guidance and help you develop skills in taking and using pictures.
- To help you gain an appreciation of photography as an art, science and communications tool.
- To help you observe and appreciate you surroundings.
- To provide experience in recording events, ideas and situations in picture form for later use.

PHOTOGRAPHY, LEVEL 1 - 7010
Are you just beginning in photography?  Then this project is for you!  In this level, you will begin learning about the exciting world of photography.  There are four "Adventures" that form the core of this project where you'll learn about photography.  In these adventures, you'll learn how to use your camera, about how cameras work, how to save and share your photos, how to mount your photos, how to frame and shoot good photographs that tell stories or show ideas, how to compose a good picture, and how to photograph subjects like people, county fairs or clouds.  You'll also learn how to pick a good subject.  And you'll learn 10 tips for better pictures.  To complete this project, you must complete all four "adventures" in the manual and complete your records.  The member's manual contains tips for leaders.

PHOTOGRAPHY, LEVEL 2 - 7020
Taking pictures is the best way to learn photography.  With the introduction to photography that you received in level 1, you're ready for new adventures in this project.  This level includes five "adventures" to help you discover the world of photography.  In these adventures, you will learn how film reacts to light, advanced composition techniques, about cropping photos, about the types and speeds of film, using a flash, processing film, using light effectively, different types of lighting, digital photos and how to develop a career in photography.  The member's manual contains tips for leaders.

PHOTOGRAPHY, LEVEL 3 - 7030
You will demonstrate advanced techniques and equipment related to SLR and adjustable cameras.  This level could be taken for multiple years. Suggested goals:
l Understand how to use a light meter.
l Be able to take a picture at night without a flash, or make a time exposure at night.
l Demonstrate the relationship between shutter speed and aperture opening.
l Take pictures demonstrating depth of field.
l Exhibit two pictures taken in low light without the use of a flash.
l Demonstrate the use of double exposure to create special effects.
l Create photographs demonstrating the use of blurred motion.
l Explain the difference between the types of lenses: normal, wide angle, telephoto and zoom.
l Use close-ups to create "mystery pictures."

PHOTOGRAPHY, LEVEL 4 - 7040
This is a beginning project in making videos and movies.  This project gives you a chance to tell your story in action through the use of video cameras and movie cameras.
Suggested goals:
l Make a video tour of your yard.
l Understand the principles of good videos.
l Use a sequence to develop a video story.
l Plan and carry out a video production of your own.
l Make a sound video on a simple subject with both on-camera and off-camera narration.
l Show you video production at a meeting.
l Evaluate your results.

You will learn how to develop and produce professional slide shows.
Suggested goals:
l Plan and produce your own slide show.
l Use a storyboard to sketch out the slide show production process.
l Write a script for a slide show.
l Learn how to make title slides.
l Develop a sound track for a slide show.
l Show your own original slide show at a meeting.
l Develop a slide show using multiple projectors and dissolves.

This project will help you learn about darkroom techniques in developing both black-and-white and color film.

l Learn how to process your own film.
l Learn how to use an enlarger.
l Make color prints from your own film.
l Learn how to mount you photographs.
l Build your own dark room.
l Enlarge color photographs.
