Get set for exciting adventures in the "Woodworking Wonders." If you like wood, enjoy using tools and like to build things, this is the project for you. Can you see yourself someday building a table, wood toy or a chair? As a beginning woodworker, you can build many objects. As your skills grow, you will be able to make most of the objects in your house or even build a home! No matter what you make, the joy of completing a woodworking project is the greatest. Through the wonders of working with wood, you'll re-discover the natural curiosity and creativity of your early years by building and constructing items using woods and a wide variety of woodworking tools. From the basic skill of measuring to using advanced equipment such as routers and joiners, "Woodworking Wonders" has
something for everyone.
WOODWORKING, Level 1 - 5410
Ready to get started with your woodworking project? This is where you begin. Organizing your shop, obtaining the tools you'll need and reviewing safety practices are probably the three most important items on your list of things to do. In this project, you'll also learn how to find an area to work on your project, learn how to identify woodworking tools, practice woodworking safety, decide on appropriate projects for the year, learn how to measure and mark boards, use a square, use a portable power drill, hand drill or brace, use a hand saw, identify different types of nails and screws, make a sandpaper block, construct a butt joint, use a hammer safely, and much more! To complete this project each year, you should do at least seven of the required and optional activities listed in the manual.
In addition, you should take part in at least two leadership experiences each year (such as giving a demonstration, participating in a judging activity, taking a tour, exhibiting your project, or attending a workshop). To complete the Achievement Program for this level of woodworking, you should complete at least 21 total required and optional activities in three years or less.

WOODWORKING, Level 2 - 5420
Great that you want to learn new skills and build more woodworking pieces. In this level, you'll be introduced to new tools and ideas. You'll be using power equipment and practicing new woodworking skills. You'll find plans for building a tool box, a birdhouse, a sawhorse, a chisel and a stool. In addition, you'll learn about safety, about potential careers, learn how to identify different woodworking tools, how to select wood based on grain, recognize the difference between plywood and fiberboard, learn the differences between types of lumber, how to develop a plan, use a combination square, make a miter cut, make a curved cut using a jig saw, use a chisel, use a staple gun, connect pieces of wood with glue, learn how to use a sander, select brushes for painting and much more! To complete this
project each year you should do at least 7 of the required and optional activities listed in the manual. In addition, you should take part in at least two leadership experiences each year (such as giving a demonstration, participating in a judging activity, taking a tour, exhibiting your project, or attending a workshop). Ready for new woodworking challenges? Nailing It Together will introduce you to woodworking skills, tools and equipment you may not have used before. You'll need these skills to complete the four woodworking projects included in this level if you choose to make them. In this project, you'll learn how to stay current with technology, explore career opportunities, make a boomerang, belt buckle, puzzle or bookshelf, use a T-bevel, enlarge scale-drawn plans, make a dado joint, use a powered circular saw and a radial arm saw, use a hand plane, use a table saw, learn about hinges, hasps and flush plates, understand the difference between various clamps, make a dowel joint, use various types of wood stains and much more! To complete this project each year you should do at least 7 of the required and

You are now closed to becoming an accomplished woodworker. Sure, you will always have more to learn, new equipment to use and more challenging projects to tackle. In this level, you'll build even more challenging projects. In this level, you'll design a woodworking shop, learn more about potential careers, develop a woodworking plan, use a router, jointer, portable planer and scraper, make mortise and tenon and dovetail joints and compare adhesives, bleaches and strippers, build a wood vehicle, hockey board, step stool or chair, toy dog or door knocker and much more. To complete this project each year you should do at least 7 of the required and optional activities listed in the manual. In addition, you should take part in at least two leadership experiences each year (such as giving a
