WIC Announces First Food Changes to in nearly 30 Years!
WIC has helped many Montana families learn to buy healthier foods, save money, eat better, and improve their health. WIC enhances family health by stressing the importance of eating healthy, being active, and getting routine healthcare. WIC promotes overall wellness and encourages women to choose breastfeeding as the healthiest way to feed their babies. The WIC Program is a great way to meet other families with young children. The WIC Program might be able to help your family.
What is WIC? WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC is designed to help babies, young children, and certain categories of women. The program is designed to be supplemental, which means WIC provides part of the foods a woman, baby, or child might need each month. The purpose of WIC is to help support and improve the nutrition and health of eligible women, infants, and children. WIC provides free food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and related services, health screenings, and referrals. WIC is a government-funded program and has been in existence for more than 30 years. WIC has clinics in each state, the District of Columbia, 36 Indian Tribal Organizations, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam. WIC has clinics in some locations overseas to
help out our troops and their families.
Who is eligible? Women must have recently delivered a baby or must currently be pregnant or breastfeeding. Infants and children under five years old also qualify to apply. Families and individuals must meet income criteria:
