The Gallatin County Planning Board was established in 1990 to propose a Master Plan. Today, the Board does more reviews of subdivision (and occasionally zoning) applications and forwards a recommendation on to the County Commission. The Planning Board considers health, safety, convenience and welfare of County citizens to plan for the future development of County communities when reviewing subdivision and zoning applications. Currently the Board is very busy working on neighborhood planning, wastewater planning, review and update to the Subdivision Regulations
and review of the Transportation Regulations.
The Board's jurisdiction is all of Gallatin County outside of the jurisdictional areas of the existing city-county planning boards for Bozeman, Belgrade and Manhattan; outside the incorporated limits of Three Forks and West Yellowstone; and outside of all the Planning & Zoning Districts created under MCA 76-2-1 ("101 districts").
Planning Board terms are for two years. Meetings are scheduled the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the Courthouse Community Room.
